In an era where cybersecurity shapes global digital trust, Yasmin Abdi stands among the most accomplished innovators within the Somali global community. A cybersecurity engineer, tech entrepreneur, and industry leader, her work has protected digital systems used by millions while redefining representation for Somali women in technology.

Yasmin built her career in Silicon Valley’s most demanding environments, contributing her expertise at Snapchat, Google, and Meta. Her specialization in secure software engineering, privacy, and data protection placed her at the center of safeguarding modern digital infrastructure. Early in her career, she made history as the first Black woman engineer at Snapchat, a milestone that marked both technical excellence and a breakthrough in representation.

Her global entrepreneurial impact emerged with the co-founding of Meemo, an AI-powered social finance platform designed to transform how people manage and understand their money. Meemo introduced a human-centered approach to finance, using artificial intelligence to analyze spending, reward healthy financial behavior, and encourage community-driven financial wellness. Yasmin played a critical role in building the platform’s secure, scalable systems, ensuring trust and innovation remained at its core.

In 2021, Meemo was acquired by Coinbase for $95 million, a landmark moment in fintech that elevated Yasmin into a select group of Somali technologists whose work has achieved global industry impact.

Building on this experience, Yasmin founded noHack, a cybersecurity consulting firm focused on closing the security gap faced by startups, nonprofits, and growing organizations. As CEO, she leads noHack in delivering advanced, AI-driven cybersecurity solutions, including vulnerability assessments, secure software design, cybersecurity education, and risk prevention strategies. The firm emphasizes proactive defense and long-term resilience, empowering organizations to understand threats and build sustainable protection.

Beyond engineering and entrepreneurship, Yasmin is a dedicated advocate for representation and access in technology. Through mentorship, public speaking, and community initiatives, she supports young people, especially minority women, pursuing careers in cybersecurity and tech, helping bridge the digital skills gap across the Somali diaspora and Africa.

Her contributions have earned international recognition, including the Innovation of the Year Award at the Global Somali Awards in 2024. Through technical leadership, entrepreneurial vision, and a commitment to inclusion, Yasmin Abdi continues to shape a safer digital future and inspire the next generation of global innovators.
